It was excellent, slightly run down as it is over 750 or so years old and an iron gate as been built onto it to keep out young vandals. The whole place felt very eerie indeed and was worth the 2 hours spent getting, finding and staying there.

    so on with the pics:

ok a little info for you all:

The Translation on the tombstone is:

    Here underneath this little stone
    Lies Robert, Earl of Huntingdon.
No archer was as he so good,
And people called him Robin Hood.
Such an outlaw as he, and his men,
    Will England never see again.

    obiit 24 kal. dekembris 1247
(closest Translation: Died 24 (th?) December 1247)

Robin Hood was a name the townsfolk and villagers gave him. His birth name is Robert Fitz Ooth and later he named himself Robert Earl Of Huntingdon/Huntington dependant on era.

    hey all
the place is called kirklees, this is where he died after being bleeded to death and where he made home after retiring from the kings services as the story goes. He shot an arrow as he was dying at the tree to the left of the grave and stated he wanted to be buried there.

damn Andy, that\'s awesome. I didn\'t know he was a real person either. That\'s really cool. Looks like a pretty creepy place. Glad you had a good time and thanks for taking some pics to share with us.
