Just saw the sneak preview and all I have to say is WOW did this movie ever take me by surprise. It\'s an old folktale type movie w/ some top notch actors including Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti, and Jessica Beil. I was so intrigued from the beginning to the end. I won\'t give anything away about the storyline... just see it! I don\'t think there was one cuss word throughout the movie and its the best film I\'ve seen in years! Great acting, awesome scenery, and the music by Phil Glass was amazing. Now I know we\'re all horror buffs here so don\'t go flaming me b/c I always love a good scary flick. But if you want a good solid magical film that makes you think and keeps you on your toes... go see this asap when it comes out! I\'m thinking of going to see it again w/ my fiancee.

    9/10 stars

It looked good to me in the trailers. Plus my favorite actor is Paul Giamatti. Can\'t wait to see it....

I\'ve only seen previews of this film but thought it looked great (as much as one can tell from commercials). I will absolutely check it out when it releases. One hell of a cast also. It will be great to see Ed Norton again... I consider him one of today\'s finest actors (let\'s just forget Death to Smoochy :whistling: :woot: ).
Paul Giamatti is also a great actor with a different flare. Nice to see a non-pretty boy getting lots of work in Hollywood... well deserved.

Very much looking forward to this film.

I\'d actually call Giamatti the real star of the movie, even though Norton is cast as the lead role. The prince was also awesome as the villain -- somewhat. Hell, they were all freakin awesome!

This film looks good, but I get the feeling that the other magician film of this year, The Prestige, will be better.

    We\'ll see.

Never judge a movie by the previews. Sure the Prestige looks cool... but its gonna be damn hard to top the Illusionist as far as a good storyline, good acting, and a strong ending.

The funny thing is that the ending of this movie actually reminded me a bit of Saw when all the bits of pieces came together and the story was retold while the awesome music played. The director also did Crash and if I recall correctly it had a similar ending as well.
