Ok - I just spent one hour with zip zone calculators and different box sizes and the only thing I can say is the Post office is realy out there to take everone to the cleaners. If what you are shipping can fit into their boxes that are pretty small but can probably handle a mask ( wihtout almost any protective packaging) then you can get by with the flat rate that is less than $ 10.Their Boxes are free and can be ordered on-line all you have to do is set up a USPS account and then you can order a ton of supplies - I ordered a bunch of stuff - I may never use them but at least I feel better about the moeny I gave them shipping stuff this week when the price was thru the roof.If you are like me though and do not feel comfortable just sticking a mask in a box and want to stuff it and use peanuts or bubble wrap there is almost no way to fit it into their little box - hopefully they come up with a better size.FED EX GROUND IS THE WAY TO GO. The transit times are between 1-5 days. A package coming from California to my house in Gurnee will take 4 days.OK Here it goesA sample package with a weight of 10 pounds that measures 18x12x 12 in size with a value of $ 500. I used this based upon a high end mask with great packing.USPS - it would be $ 26.50 for pririty two day service Plus confirmation plus insurance so you are looking at $ 30.00 OR MORE with crappy tracking informationFed Ex ground - the service to me would be 4 days and the total cost of the package would be $ 13.97 insured for the full amount!!!!!!!Plus - Fed ex also has the following options which soung greatIf you mark the box up front Fed Ex Evening delivery - on the expected date of delivery they will only deliver between 5 -8 PM !!!!! almost half the stuff that comes to me I end up standing in line in the post office as we miss the post man almost every time - this would be virtually eliminatedyou can also mark it for Certain Home Delivery. Let's say you travel and only want your parcels on Saturdays - this can be marked that way as well and will be delivered on a certain date as long as it is after the expected travel time.I am willing to wait the extra two days ( tops if the shipper is closer it can be less time for delivery) so I can track it and make sure the Post office suffers for trying to take advantage of everyone. Unless the shipper is willing to eat the extra cost that is. I hope the post office comes up with some more universal box sizes we can use for less than $ 10 that fits our product just a little better ( 12x12x12 would help)Take care guys - hope this was helpful. I hope to post up a very special score today after the evil postman drops off one of my parcels.US TO CANADA AND CANADA TO THE USI just used the same $ 500 value and same package size on a parcel fromn toronto to Chicago and vice versaThe Fed Ex GROUND charge including insurance is only ABOUT $ 25 !!!!!!The delivery is only three days - I am used to waiting weeks for Canada stuff !!!!!I checked out United Kingdom stuff and Fed ex is not even close to the postal service - once it goes on a plane it looks like we just will have to suck it up and pay the post office what they ask ( I have not checked UPS however to the UK)Take care guysShummyShummy

this does suck...ive always used priority mail, either recieving or sending,it is quick and never had many problems.looks like UPS and Fed-ex are really the only way to go now unless you use flat rate priority boxes. thanks on the info Mike

Yes, these new rates do suck. I just got back from the Post Office. I took $50 with me just in case, although I strongly doubted I would even need that much. My total came to $41.30! <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/down.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"down.gif\" />

I've noticed that if you ship something out in a standard box say... 12x12x 7 then the rate has not gone up that much... maybe $1.50. But if you ship something larger like 16x16x10 then yes it will cost you nearly double what it used to. Of course I always ship online through paypal or directly through USPS. The avg package I send out w/ a latex mask in it costs $7.50
