Yea taking pics without the flash can be so frustrating and very time consuming, trust me!!! All my pics in the collection thread were done without flash, and I took over 1000 pics to get the 200 or so I have in there now. I bought a photography type light to illuminate my room more for better pics. Don\'t put the light directly on the piece your photoing, this will cause it to be extra shiny and orangish. Also use natural clear lightbulbs, they don\'t give off the yellowish glow. Don\'t get me wrong it helps but even still with a Sony 8.0MP camara I still get the out of focus, blurry ass pics. I usually take 3-4 shots from the same angle of the mask I\'m photoing. I usually end up with around 30 pics of 1 mask and then pick and choose the best and clearest ones. You can have the best camara in the world but in the end it comes down to patience, and lighting. Also like Ben said try using a tripod it might help, but 1 key thing I do is to not let the camara focus before you snap the pic. Press the shoot button halfway done and just before you get your signal that it is about to focus, press the shoot button all the way. It takes practice, but\'ll you\'ll get it.

Thanks for the advise guys. Hopefully I\'ll be able to figure something out. I got alot of cool pieces on the way that I\'d like to take good pictures of. Even some I\'ve had for a while now I want to show, but I want to do the pieces justice as well. I\'ll see what I can do.

sony mavica cameras are great, you can shut off the flash, and there is a button to can press to make the picture on the lcd screen brighter before you snap it...also what ben said, you can change the exposure level. with sony mavica you can change the flash level , so if the pictures are coming out really bad with the flash you can switch it to the lowest flash level and the come out quite good even with the flash. AND the macro lens setting makes for some kickass mask photos...great detail and closeups. I\'m sure other cameras have these features too.

You can get a Nikon 995. It\'s 3.3mp, takes great photos for your price range and you can set the shutter speed manually. It also has great macro! I used this camera before I got my D100. Remember, it\'s not always how many megapixels it is, it\'s also the kind of sensor it uses that makes a good quality photo. I used my epson 2200 and made great 8x10\'s from this camera. You can get it on Ebay anywhere from $200-$300.

Hey, that isn\'t to bad at all. Way better than what I get out of my camera. I\'m going to start looking at the Sony\'s pretty soon. I\'ll keep asking around and maybe have someone help me out at the store when I go. Thanks again guys. Much appreciated!!!
