I know some of you guys really dislike the whole remaking thing, especially with classics like King Kong; but I have this to say to you: King Kong is a huge exception to the rule. This movie, in my opinion, is the best movie to come out in a long time.
The last movie to shake me like this was The Passion of the Christ and before that, Saving Private Ryan. This movie is one of the very few movies that makes you "Cry, laugh, eww, and ahh". The writing is superb, the acting is awesome (even Kong should be nominated for an award), the action is above exhilerating, the special effects are so realistic (Kong looks just like an 20 foot ape), and the soundtrack is amazing.
This film is one of those 3 hour films you don\'t mind sitting three hours for. So, in conclusion, go see King Kong if you are a fan of movies in general and don\'t worry, there are horrifying moments (centinpeds and old tribal women). Also, keep a look out for a little something from Dead Alive aka Braindead. Gets 5 Great Apes out of 5.

Couldn\'t agree more. The one thing that makes this one different in my mind is that you actually care about Kong. The character is so good that you actually forget that he\'s not real and totally buy into it. With no ability to speak it was very important that he be able to express emotion and WETA gave it to him in spades. I went into the theatre looking for a good action packed movie, and while it did deliver that it was the other scenes that stuck with me the most.

I\'ll agree with all of the above critiques. I usually don\'t like long movies, due to my short attention span, but it did not seem like 3 hours at all (until you try to stand up afterwards). Well worth the overpriced movie tickets!

Coming from a manly man like you, that means alot. King Kong is no longer the Eight Wonder of the World, but is now the movie that made Mike of FOD cry. Tongue

Good to see the NIGHTOWL crowd loves this movie. Smile

I can\'t let Mike be alone on this one. I too was reaching for my hanky at a certain point in the movie. Now that I got that out of the way lets talk about manly things like football, steaks and fishing Tongue
