That\'s what starts all that racist crap and all this "anti-middle-easterner attitude" that many Americans seem to have. Just because some of them are terrorists doesn\'t mean that they all are. Just look at Timothy McVeigh (sp?) It\'s just a scary time we\'re living in...the media misinforms us all the time and people act based on emotions and first impressions rather than rationalism and true justice.

I agree with Ben, I am just glad he took the time to post this so I didn\'t have to.
The company is out of Dubai, an oil rich region with their oil runnng out so the Prince is looking for other ways to keep the area wealthy, this is one of them. Dubai is quite the tourist spot with millions of americans going there every year.

This is not an advocacy for the port deal just more information.

I do not like to get involved with these conversations, at least not on this board, but just to clear a few things up...

\"President Bush is facing political pressure to block a deal that would give a United Arab Emirates-based company management of six major U.S. seaports.\"

    1.) A \"United Arab Emirates-based company\" is NOT Iraq.
2.) The UAE is NOT buying \"US ports\" the UAE is going to manage those ports
3.) The UAE would only run the business end of this deal, while the Coast Guard and PSA would maintain the security end.

We are not letting UAE control security personel, they simply will own the finacial holdings of these ports. The port security at the present time is not anything to be proud of, but from what I hear the UAE have their shit together security wise. That, on top of our current security, and the media hype of a potential security breakdown will only increase the security of these ports.
    comprende?

I would be more concerned with terrorists smuggling nuclear warheads across our mexican borders.

...well so much for trying to keep that short

Good thing you\'re getting your info straight from Fright Rags instead of CNN. Now I may be very very drunk and also gratefully not a member of the US but how is Ben getting so many high fives for posting the bare facts? Yes the American government is selling the most important 6 sea ports in America. Bush has passed the patriot act that makes people who even looks vaguely like an arab to have a very hard time making it through the border...but The United Arab Emirates can buy the sea ports? You can love Bush or hate him but you cannot see that is anything other than hypocritical.
Oh wait he didn\'t know about the deal till it already began? Thats an excuse now? I\'m sorry my fellow Americans I didnt know I was selling you out until it was brought to my attention.
At the very, VERY least that it among the most f*cked up thing he could do POLITCALLY.

1)Of course the the UAE is not Iraq, I\'m sure at the moment Iraq ranks very low on the list of threats to the US.
2)The UAE is fully buying US ports.
3)The local police is protecting my town, I trust them alot less when the UAE buys the town out and starts signing the cheques.

I\'m very heavy into politics, but don\'t really like discussing them on places like this. I\'ll probably step on more toes than I intend to.
