I hate how people always think fast=good.

    It sounds horrible.

I was just thinking the same thing. Yngvie, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani are guitar gods!

That might be true but heck if I go to see a cool guitarist I\'m there to see them and not the chicks.

I\'m definitely down with those last two quotes!!!! SHRED RULES!!! end of story....

For all you \'heads out there, check out Joe Stump. He shreds like Yngwie but actually puts more soul into it, thus making it a tad better. I\'m a huge Yngwie fan from way back in the day, but after I heard and met Joe, it was like a god had come down the mountain to be with his people!!

I don\'t have any clips to attach here but check out his site:JOE STUMP for more info with downloads and such.

We have a promoter here in Rochester NY that brings him here every six months or so, under the moniker of \'ShredFest\', bringing together the best guitar talent locally and abroad. I know he\'s tried to get Michael Angelo here, but he wanted too much money and accomodations. Joe comes here in an Enterprise van (which includes the two other members of the band, gear, AND wardrobe) all the way from Boston MA and stays in a Motel 6. And has been doing this an average of twice for the past four years!!!! This guy teaches guitar privately, as well as thru the Berkley School of Music in Boston, so he really doesn\'t need to make the trip here so often. THAT\'S Joe stump, ya\'ll!!! Check him out!!

ok, I\'ll step off my shredbox now. Thanks for all the posts of awesome guitar players. I\'m definitely gonna look more into Michael Angelo and J. Becker.

And EVOL, Doyle is god, just in another way!! ha ha

BTW, let\'s not forget my \'lil bro Ben, who plays a MEAN ASS blues guitar (when he\'s not pleasing this board constantly with his wicked Fright Rags designs!! ha ha) I can\'t wait to jam with ya again, buddy!!

yawn. Fast doesn\'t equal good. Very few players make fast sound really good. Most make it sound like scale practice with the metronome kicked up.

However Joe Satriani can play pretty fast and he always sounds good.

yeah my shredding phase was about 18 years ago, lol. I\'ll stick with Killswitch Engage and Motograter lately. I\'d rather hear the bass and drums then the "wheedle-deedle" of fast fingers. Big Grin

it\'s funny though that all the \'shredders\' mentioned are pretty much the same ones from when I was a kid.

I\'ve met Michael Angelo, he\'s a really super nice guy. Very friendly and extremely down to earth.

good luck with your scales everyone, enjoy those phyrigian minors and harmonic minors. And don\'t forget to sweep. Tongue

Joe Stump is awesome!! I\'ve been a fan of his work every since his first release. When you mention Joe Stump most people go "Who?".

Another guitarist that impresses me is Damir Simic Shime. http://www.damirsimic.com/ Be sure to check out the video.
