    Hey guys,

I am a student independent filmmaker. I have done two pieces in the past year that I would like to put up onto a small, simple website where you can get info about each movie, a small trailer, some info on the filmmaker, contact, a place to view each of the shorts, a place to put news (whenever it happens) on new films in progress, and a way to keep an email list of anyone interested in new films.

They are both creepy, little art movies - the most recent was my attempt to create a eerie, little, B-horror film. That would be the best way I can describe them. I think they best represent my style. I am not interested in being a filmmaker in the future, but I would like to continue doing shorts when I have free time and maybe end up with a collection of short, creepy little films to take with me to my grave.

I have never created a website before nor do I know how to design one of the caliber I am looking for (I\'m not a graphic designer). I was also wondering if someone could tell me what I need to do in order to get a website up and going - what are the steps I should take? How much does it cost? Who do I go for to design a website and what does it usually run for something like I mentioned? Something similar to a website for another short film - www.graveless.com

    Any help would be wonderful.

    Cheers,
    j. william foust

well first things first, you need to have someone build the site for you, people over charge for this...

secondly you need a host such as godaddy.com and a domain such as www.whatevernameyouwantforyoursite.com which both of those can be purchased from godaddy.com fairly cheap. You will have to pay to have your site hosted yearly or monthly however you choose to arrange it.

the most expensive thing is finding someone to maintain your site really...there\'s a few people on here who are excellent at site design (fright rags and creemedgeezer) They both pretty much run and maintain this lovely site we\'re on right here.

I dabble a bit in web design, but I\'m nowhere near as good as the 2 of them. I could make you a basic website for free, but they could really spice it up a whole lot for you so you may want to speak with them.

    hope this helps
    Cory

Yeah, I\'d say contact Cory bro , he works for free I guess.
and I was joking..when I said "shit load of money"
...just a little friendly banter ...
and also, before accusing people of overcharging....know who they are...
