i got this bust in today and its broken, ive never worked with resin before, so what would be the best way to go about repairing it ? .... i was thinking super glue and maybe brushing in or slushing some resin around inside to strengthen it up. the damage is two cracks , a chip and the big broken piece.click pic to enlarge<a href=\"http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/Outawmasks/IMG_1687_edited.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img src=\"http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k250/Outawmasks/th_IMG_1687_edited.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /></a>

Your choice of resin and fiberglass cloth from the inside might work to reinforce the broken piece.

What is the story on that? That is the first I've seen thickness wise of anyones resin busts and that is just unworkable and too thin. There is no reason for anything resin to be made as thin as that appears to be. If there is a chance to send it back, do so. If not then the fiberlgass on the inside option would work as mentioned above. Sand a little bit on the inside for the new fiberglass resin to adhere to. Tyler
Thanks for the help guys... tyler, i got this from another collector in trade, i didnt know how thin it would be... if i knew it was this thin i wouldnt of done the trade..... ill try the fiberglass on the inside .... theres also some cracks that need to be atached back in place, what adhesive would you recommend for that ?.

If the breaks are in a way that they'll fit right back together tape it on the outside and use some Aves Epoxy sculpture on the inside to lock the two resin pieces back together. Just something to hold it will you do the fitting of the broken pieces so that they fit back together flush, and not unworkable later. As long as you can get the pieces back together flush, you can then start to work on the inside of the bust, making it more secure and beefed up with more Aves, or fiberglass cloth and resin, or both. I would suggest then, to foam fill it if you can, only after the brittle thin overall casting is fully reinforced from the inside, otherwise the foam could very well distort and break the bust out further becasue of how thin it currently is. Good luck, and if you need any help, I'll to help you.Tyler
