Freddy Got Kicked Out Of The Mall

Damn, I had a great time this Halloween! A much better improvement over last year. I had my new glove, sweater, hat, and of course the silicone Fred and set out around 4 o'clock. First I went to work to enter our costume contest- boy did I get a lot of looks from not only the employees but the customers as well. Tons of people just saying "Hey" and complimenting my outfit. It was great! After that I headed out for the mall as I heard there was a lot of festive crap going on. Tons of people staring at me, saying how realistic and cool I looked- parents being nice about it and letting their kids come up and talk to me; bunches of hot chicks wanting their pictures taken. It was awesome. The only downside was when I sat down to drink a cup of coffee from Barnes & Noble (that I got free, lol) one of those rent-a-cop security guards and what I assume was the mall manager of some sort came up to me and stated some garbage about how I wasn't even legally allowed to wear a mask unless I was below the age of 16 and how my glove was considered a "dangerous weapon." The manager was decent about it though, and smiled and said he liked my mask. And so now I returned home to write a brief summary. I hope everyone else had a great Halloween!

It might be some kind of law or insurance regulation. If they weren't total pricks about it, that might be the case. I seem to remember when people got dressed up for return of the sith, at a theatre that was in the mall, they weren't aloud to walk around the mall in costume.I know how it must have felt though, I went into boston one year dressed as jason part six and people were all over me taking pictures and hot drunk 20 somethings telling me, "you scared me so much when I was a little girl."

There are some stores that get really bent out of shape if someone wears a mask in them. Granted their usually "rob spots" like liquor stores and drug stores, but I seen people complain pretty much anywhere where there's a lot of money being spent. That might be why he mentioned the age limit. Some cities do have a ban on masks in public on adults as I've heard of a few cities attempting to thwart the KKK and any biggot groups using them so as to make them show their face in public. Perhaps your city is one of those? hrug:Sounds like the mall-pork just wanted to give you a hard time. Sometimes, and I stress SOMETIMES, those with badges just don't like people having too much fun. Then you get a cool cop every once and a while, like the one that wanted his picture taken with me in full-on Myers gear a few years ago. He showed up after a noise complaint at a buddy of mine's house, asked us to turn it down, got a pic on his phone, and left. Cool guy.

Think of it this way.......if you were a mall manager and saw some scary guy sitting down wearing a mask that conceals the identity (while also wearing knives on your fingers) - regardless of the fact that the character you're portraying is almost a national icon - he or she would <i>have</i> to question you and ask you to leave. For if he didn't, and you by chance would go on a killing spree -he would face massive charges for abandoning his own responsibility. A person concealing their identity is considered a red flag in public. Not to mention that the mall, his security agency, or even the local police department (if we was a cop) would be all liable for a major lawsuit from the families of anyone slain or injured in the melee.While these adult figures might seem like "pricks," they probably were just watching out for their own backs. After jackasses like the Cho Seung Hui (Virginia Tech) go off like a crazed nutball...I'm sure everyone will constantly be on an ever vigilant guard.If you still feel offended at being questioned when you really did nothing dangerous or threatening, try living a day in the shoes of an African-American or Arab-American in the wake of 9/11. If I were to slay a bunch of people with my dully bladed glove, I doubt I would have made it out the doors without being spotted or taken out by the police/security who were present. With or without a mask. It's not like I'm asking to wear the thing every day in public, it's only one day; Halloween. I don't see why my life and fun should be demeaned because of douchebags who actually go out and murder people. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if some maniac is bent on killing a bunch of people, it's going to happen whether or not he's in a mask. Hell, some clean-cut mother fucker in a punisher-type outfit could yank out a sawed off shotgun from his trenchcoat and take out a bunch of people. When you have these one-person mass murders, the killer usually doesn't expect to live anyway, so concealing their identity is the least of your worries.

That is why I was wondering about the most realistic plastic glove out there, for situations just like this. Metal display is fine for at home, but eventually it will get you in trouble with uptight law enforcement who have to enforce the laws. I would have walked away while pointing a couple of blades at him and said "Don't go to sleep tonight..." followed by a maniacal deep Freddy laugh.
