I have only filmed skate videos before of me and my friends, so we are now trying to put together a fan film of friday the 13th, and this was our first night of filming, i had no idea it would take 3 hours to film a 1 minute 15 second scene, but this turned out really well, we are gonna go back and touch up a couple tid bitsthings i need to improve by me judging it myself-lighting-victim jumping when i pin him on the wall-me touching the wall when i step over his bodybut we really damaged the wall, and realized there was electric wire behind that wall. what we plan to add..-outside shot of me looking through the window- and outside shot looking in through a window of me carrying the body around the corner- the actor actually opening the door and entering the buildingwe have the story line all together, we got a great backstory on why they are at this cabin and everythingthis is just a sneak preview.. test film and i would love to get everyone's opinions.. you guys nit pick at everything, so i want to get your opinions so i can improve this filmYou may have to adjust the brightness, depending on how well lit your monitor is, also.. notice how the "Sheriff Snaps" music goes so good with the first half of the scene.. its almost like the music was made for this scenehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWH7CZ_L7mY

OK, better lighting is definitely a must. See if you can borrow or if you already have some Tripod Lights from someone. The costume looks good from what I could see, which is always a plus in a fan film. Also, you might want to go out and buy a sheet of Drywall for like what, $7? Something like that and then you can really go to down without worrying about damaging your own walls. A scene where Jason busts through the drywall would be cool too.

Oh, well damn man you got the green light for destruction, Lol. Make him slam people into wall, bust their heads open, do blood splatters and stuff. I would take full advantage of that if I were you.

yea but im gonna take your advice first, without good lighting its crap, so we gotta make it look good if we are to destroy it

Yeah, I'd get about 2 lights. One less bright than the other. The brightest light I'd use as the "Key Light" to light up the people or general area. Then the dimmer light to fill in parts the brighter one missed. This site might have some good info, I haven't looked at it much though.http://www.cybercollege.com/tvp031.htm I wish i could help more, I'm just learning to light a room myself.

For a fan film I must say you did good job with angels. Most people put a camera in one spot and shoot a whole scene. Defiantly fix the lighting! Good costume btw. Maybe make the music a little lower and make the background sound a little higher. Like level it out a little. Unless that's what your going for.You should slam his head through the wall, but that's just me.

An improvement in lighting would help a whole lot. Always remember the rule of thirds too while shooting scenes. (http://movies.atomiclearning.com/k12/freerules.shtml/) I would suggest getting a shoulder mount or cheap glide cam style system to help with smoothness of your pans and such. It's always good to visualize what the scene looks like in your head and then plan the shots to get that visual. And smooth edits would help too.
