Official story:"Well I don't really know the story. What I can tell you is it came from Batia Grafka. She worked on Nightmare 3 and 5. This is my take or story on what I believe happened to the glove. Now forget everything we have heard about what happened to the part 1 for a moment. Think about this. When is the last time the Part 1-2 glove is actually shown on screen not in part 2 but the trailer in part 3. Batia Grafka worked on Nightmare 3. Notice how the part 1 now has a light coat of black paint on it looks like spay paint or somthing to that effect. The part3 retractable glove for a fact has the same style paint sceme to it. I have spoke to Scott Nesselrode who made the gloves for part 3 and said that he was given the original glove as a prototype and he had to re-design the glove due to the original not being a very funtional glove and it kept cutting Robert. He said they wanted somthing different and that the original glove was starting to fall apart. Must have meant the actual leather glove. Getting back to the black paint on the part 3 I think he painted the black on this glove as it was then a prototype in his eyes so he could have painted it to see how the part 3 gloves would look with the same paint scheme. I think that after filming Batia Grafka grabbed the glove not really knowing what she was grabbing and kept it. She also had the Part 4 hero that was used in part 5 as well that she obtained after Nightmare 5. The part 1 was listed as a prototype glove from Nightmare on elm street 5 and sold for under $700.00. I think Batia Grafka took it after Nightmare 3. I don't think she knew what glove she grabbed but she sure grabbed a good one. I don't know if she purposly stole it or she grabbed it thinking it was going to be needed for the next film which I believe she did not work on but she did work in Nightmare 5. So the part one will have a coa from Batia Grafka but it will be labeled as a Nightmare 5 glove."

This glove was first offered through Profiles in History a few years back together with a stunt glove from part 5 and a single leather glove. Then sold separately at Heritage auctions.<img src=\"http://i41.tinypic.com/15robv8.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />If you look at the following picture you will see "CESAR" is handwritten to the leather glove. César Díez Álava worked in the prop department in both, Nightmare 3 and 5. Maybe he`s involved in some degree in handling this "part 1 glove".<img src=\"http://i40.tinypic.com/2ahif51.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Also, here`s another shot of the glove. I do have it in a 400 KB version, so if someone can forward me some screen stills or photos from this angle, I will do some comparision and post details here.<img src=\"http://i40.tinypic.com/m9cf9s.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />Mario

    On this capture from part 2, you can see that the gloves are very similar.<img src=\"http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t77/NeverFarAsleep/glove5.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /><img src=\"http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t77/NeverFarAsleep/Heroblack.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

This is a very interesting find to say the least. And I agree that it looks very much like the original. So at first thought I would say that the now owner is a very lucky person but at the same time, If it is the original and the seller wasn't the actual owner to begin with, even if they worked on the film or not. Couldn't the actual original owner make them return it? Ya know like what happens if someone buys a stolen car or something? The buyer is just out the cash and the goods. And maybe even face jail time for possession? Atleast that's how it is here anyway. Just the thought of that would make me sick if I were the buyer. Might be why they didn't want the info and pics spread any further?

The comparison shots show many identical markings and it just needs to be put in the right hands to verify its authenticity. If it is proven that this is indeed the real thing there may be a strong case that it would have to be returned to the original owner. That would definitely suck for the current owner.<!--quoteo(post=308120:date=Apr 7 2009, 10:40 AM:name=horrorconcepts)<div class=\'quotetop\'>QUOTE (horrorconcepts @ Apr 7 2009, 10:40 AM) <a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=308120\"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class=\'quotemain\'><!--quotecThis is a very interesting find to say the least. This is the singular greatest horror prop "find" of the century...without one doubt in my mind. A lot of us here never thought we'd live to see the day where that glove popped up again, much less that we'd be seeing mind-blowing closeups of every single aspect of the metal work. That is unrealistically perfect. Thanks for making those mind-boggling comparisons, knifegloves! There is no rhyme or reason for how <b>AWESOME</b> all of this stuff is. Not to mention the new owner is such a nice guy for letting us see this glove in great detail...I really can't believe this is happening!!Cheers,Ryan

Mystery solved. That is very cool for the horror world and film history as well. Now what I wonder is what kind of replicas will we be seeing now with these close-up, high-resolution photos of the original.
