No, not at all, but it was in the same universe. It had a lot of the same camera work, vocal effects, and "rules" on how the monsters and the possessed behave. It was Sam's style is all, and it's so unique that you can't help but compare the two.

This was just awesome. I do think that some of the general public will not like it though. Raimi has a particular stapstick/3 stooges/cartoony/cornball kind of vibe in some of his films and it's in here as well. It was fun as hell though.

I saw it last night, and had a rockin' good time!! Raimi's best since Evil Dead 2 if you ask me. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

Finally seen this movie and it had some great vomit inducing scenes and I got my $9 worth. The Gypsy lady was well done and the goat made me lol. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" />I hope that Sam is warming up to make another Evil Dead. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

I loved this movie! I thought it was completely gross, fun and best of all scary. The loud noises and things jumping out were enough to actually scare a jaded horror fan. I think Sam Raimi did a great job on this one. It definitely felt like he had fun on this one...perhaps the fun that he missed out on with Spiderman 3!?!?! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"-_-\" border=\"0\" alt=\"sleep.gif\" /> My rating: 4/5 stars

Just got back from DMTH, I had a great time. Saw it with a bunch of Raimi fans, and they all thoroughly enjoyed it too. I think this is definitely a great return to form for Raimi. I think the foley fx artist did a hell of a job, it got the crowd screaming and jumping in there seats. The sound effects were really loud at the screening I went to as well so it might have been intentional. A few people in the audience even got up and left part way through because they were so scared which I don't see often. I would highly recommend seeing this in the theaters.

Yeah, a bit late to the party but I saw the film this night. Really cool movie I must say. Has a lot of the Evil Dead`ish, especially the opening credits and the camera work. It would get 5 of 5 stars if they had Bruce Campbell in there in an cameo.Mario

    Sam Raimi even had his classic Olds Delta 88 in this movie. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

man I loved this movie but the ending was so predictable it was very obvious what was really in the envelope!
