Truly fantastic detailing. This might end up being the best p4 out there. I agree with the earlier comment about fattening up the neck and the right ear is very different, but I'm guessing that was on purpose. I actually like it better than the original. Excellent work.

This is looking fantastic. I like the changes, the opened eye looks much better.I think the 'good' ear looks more like the way it was sculpted for the bust, and not enough like Ted White's ear, and like what was said, the neck could be slightly chubbier. Otherwise, keep it up man, I'm definetly interested.

I have gotten a few comments about the jowl area, and the comments were right on. Good eye everyone. I probably wont make them quite as "inflated" looking as they appear on screen after the unmasking. The reason being is that looking over my collection of references, it only looks that extreme in that one scene. For example: look in the cut footage on deluxe ed dvd where Jason is reeling from the machete strike, you will notice it is not as extreme. It looks as though Ted White is pressing his tongue against the sublingual gland, almost like he is trying to avoid gagging (He supposedly was not fond of his dentures in the film). I will post some pics hopefully tomorrow of the fixed jowl area. One thing about this sculpt, is there are a lot of hybrid aspects to it. You will notice if you look closely around the left eye of the prosthetic makeup the scars are placed differently than in my sculpt. That was intentional on my part, as I was keeping with the integrity of the original sculptural design. For one reason or another, some of the appliances were placed slightly off. It's incredibly subtle, you have to really look for it (You know, like someone who has obsessed over every possible detail for like 2 years <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/geek.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":geek:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"geek.gif\" /> ) Also, the lines and wrinkles on the neck are like the ones on the sculpt rather than Ted's. Which brings me to the left ear... Jigsaw is right in the fact that I modeled that ear of my sculpt to look more like the wax pour sculpt. ( Ok, quick history rant: The sculpt for this film went through at least 3 different stages during the film's production. First, Kagel finished his initial design before Savini came on set, using 'Grande Illusions' images of young Jason for reference. Second, Savini had Kagel make changes to the sculpt, most notably the severe scarring on the left side. This stage of the sculpt was then cast in alginate for a wax positive to be made, as they needed the clay sculpt to cast the makeup appliances. The wax sculpt was sculpted somewhat to fix imperfections. This sculpt is where the stuntmask, stunthood, and film used busts were all cast from. This is also the sculpt with the more deformed left ear, as the original bust's left ear is just a plaster cast of Ted's. Finally, Kagel made additional refinements to the original sculpt before it was them cast once again, this time for the appliances. Savini said that one reason he had Kagel continually refine the sculpt was that Kagel was getting paid by the hour, so he kept him sculpting. So, to anyone that did not previously know this info, I hope it was as entertaining for you to learn as it was for me.)So, with that said, what do you guys think? Wax sculpted version of the ear, or Ted White's ear? Also, the casting materials are being ordered tomorrow afternoon. So, once this thing is finally finished, it will be ready for casting. I hope to have the prototype finished in time for the Fright night film fest in KY to show to Ted White. Anyway, thanks to everyone for the critiques, they have been a major help.

Now that I see what you're doing, I think my vote is for the original sculpt ear. Ted White's ear is too normal anyway. Its truer to the vision of Jason. Fantastic work man-- two years of obsession produces amazing results! <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"^_^\" border=\"0\" alt=\"happy.gif\" />

Hey James,You already know what I think about this bust, but since you asked for comments on the ear I'll throw in my two cents. I would go with Ted's ear. I tend to enjoy a more "on-screen look" in busts rather than behind the scene looks if you will. This is also why I was extremely pleased to log on and see that you chose to open the left eye. It is simply a personal preference, but I say make it as close to what we see in the film.I'm sure whatever you decide to go with will look fantastic <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

I say Ted's ear. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/teehee.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":teehee:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"teehee.gif\" />There are so few based on the screen, and Kagel already did a tribute to his original design. lolI also say go with what your gut tells you.

Here is a small update:<img src=\"http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/manglermangrum/IMG_6190.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />I have the sculpt under lit to accentuate the buildup under the chin. Also:<img src=\"http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/manglermangrum/IMG_6193.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /> The ear is now Ted's. As you can also see, due to the detail of the shot, I have a good deal of refining left. I have been spending most of my time getting the back of the head sculpted more accurately to the original design. I hope to have pics of that soon as well.I am getting increasingly nervous about meeting my deadline of August 15th. If I fail to make it, rest assured, I will still have this piece fully completed not long after. I just refuse to cast this until it is as close to perfect as I can get it.
