i have been messing around with super sculpey lately and pulled off some pretty good 1/6 scale heads for custom figures - now i would love to make a mold of this instead of keep trying to replicate the ones i made. today i bought mold builder liquid latex to paint on top of it - but i feel this is not the right thing to use --- can anyone guide me in the right direction to make a mold of the clay head and maybe caste it in resin (or actually i am not sure what to caste it in - so any suggestions on that part too)?or if anyone knows if the mold builder will actually function as i had previously intended?any help would be appreciated as I have come to a halt in my projects, thanks!

I have never worked with resin but I use ultra cal 30 to make all my molds its a super hard stone.I'm assuming you will be making these two piece molds? You can always check out theeffectslab.com so very helpful info on there,as well as in the mark alfrey video and even you tube if you get lucky.I'm sure someone else can tell you everything I forgot lol. Hope this helps,Hector

At that size, silicone molds are very easy. I'd invest in a pressure chamber for bubbless-resin castings. There's a bunch of info on model making & toy prototyping available online nowadays.

Make your way over to www.theclubhouse1.net that's where all of the Toy sculptors hang out. There are tips on making pressure pots out of a paint pot from harbor freight.

smooth-on makes a really good brushable silicone for molding called Rebound 25. they have a sample size which is 2lbs i believe. it should be enough for what you need and it's only like $30. you don't need any fancy equipment since it's brushable.if you want to pour the silicone then i would go with smooth-on's OOMOO mold silicone.
