    Its good as a filler for backrounds but like Chad said for monsters I havent seen anything good for that

    Well, alot of this was not CG (well some of it was computer generated) but chroma keying real backgrounds onto a green screen. Of course it's cheaper to green screen than to pay hundreds of thousands of $ for a cast and crew to film a 45 second scene on location 1,000 miles away.
