All this means is that Platinum Dunes won't be involved in a sequel at this point, which is fantastic news IMO.Paramount and New Line can still green light it.Would like to see New Line out of the equation to personally.

I'd like a sequel if they do it right. If it's as horrible as the remake, I'd like no part in murdering my favorite franchise.I have been in the talks about how they could "save" the Friday franchise. The movie would have to open with a similar scene as the opening to Part 4. I picture it like the police loading Clay and Whitney into an abulence, and clean up the crime scene. Jason's body would be presumably dead, chained to the woodchipper. They take Jason's jacket off and bring him to the morgue (WITHOUT THE HOCKEYMASK). Jason would escape, like in part 4, and go to some near by house. I'd love to see a tribute to the clothesline scene from Part 3, and see Jason grab a workshirt off the line and button it up.To "save" it, they'd need to throw Jablonsky out, or have him do a score more tributed to the original. Something creepy with high strings, like Shutter Island had a bit of. They'd have to stick to the classic formula, have Jason stalking his victims, and do not fully reveal him until the last 20-30 minutes of the film. The kills should be more sudden and shorter. The thing with people saying "Why do you want to see a copy of the originals" is that the ORIGINALS set the bar for what FRIDAY THE 13TH is truly defined as. Even though Parts 1 through 5 featured a different director each time, they managed to apply the same exact style in their own way. Who's to say they can't do that again. The remake took EVERYTHING that is truly Friday the 13th out of the film, and just made another Sheepty Jason movie. They need to learn the distinction between a JASON MOVIE and a FRIDAY THE 13TH MOVIE.

You're exactly right, which is why it will never work if New Line or PD have anything to do with it.

See, that's why I hate that this thread is really asking "Do you want to see Jason again."Jason doesn't make these movies, it's the original directing, score, and style. Even Part 1 (WITHOUT JASON) is UNDENIABLY a Friday the 13th film. Anyone disagreeing with me, I demand you re watch Part 1 through 4, and then the remake. You'll change your mind.

I would love to see another one if it is done right.
