to me the remake was more of a killing spree, and they made jason seem more like a guy killing without a cause even though they showed his reason for killing. You cant put stuff from 3 or 4 different movies into a hour and a half movie, it just didnt work.

I for one am happy about this. If Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 thought us anything it's that the only thing worse than a lousy remake is a sequel to a lousy remake.

Like I was saying if you use an actor with a lengthy body and go for a creepy looking Jason, I think they'd be off to a good start. I don't dig built Jason. Jason is just some guy, he wouldn't have the resources to get huge. He's certaintly NOT a monster. He's a stalking homicidal maniac, with a mental disability and a mongoloid head. And as for liking the full appearance of Jason often in the film, I think it takes away any suspense from the kills. In an interview I read in fangoria for the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street, I beleive it was Fuller who said "Friday the 13th was just a party for the fans." That film had nothing to do with the fans. The only people I know who were truly pleased by it don't even know the originals. Most people don't realize the style the originals set, they think you can just take the plot of Jason killing teenagers on a lake and create it in any way. Sure, that works for the average public movie goer, but the fans want more from these films.

I enjoyed the remake as well. I agree that the original score, or an updated version of the original score would have been ideal, but the remake, in my opinion, is still the best F13th to come along since Jason lives. Im a huge Jason fan, I LOVE Kane, but I got really board of the whole "the girl runs through the woods as fast as she can while tripping on a leaf, but Jason, walking as slow as a slug, still manges to keep up with her". It just got ridiculous by the time Jason Takes Manhattan got to the screen, and Jason X? dont even get me started with Jason in space. The remake was absolutely needed, and I just dont see how too many complaints can be out there with the direction the franchise went after Part 6. It was a disaster imo. Sure, the remake had problems like any other later F13th film but it was far better than anything we have seen in 20 years imo. All it needed was a few more clever kills, a better score, and a few actors changed out with ones who seemed more like "real" people instead of "models". That is another thing annoying the hell out of me about today's remakes. Why does the casting have to look like the people just came off of a jeans commerical?? If Platinum would take a few cues from those types of concepts, they would fair FAR better I think. Derek, however, imo, was just about perfect. Rich

Everything packed in a huge budget flick. Sure it has its flaws, but hey the whole series has its flaws. It was refreshing after the Space and Demons.... Well, anyways its just my opinion, but I loved what they did with the remake and I'm sad its not gonna happend in a while....
