    Hello, all. Smile

NOTE: PRE-ORDERS ARE NOW OPEN! NEW PHOTOS AND INFORMATION POSTED BELOW. SCROLL DOWN THIS PAGE TO VIEW ADDITIONAL DETAILS!

Please read everything below for more information on this project. I will be producing a small run of replicas, and that info is mentioned in detail, as well:

1.) There were two sculptures created for Jason in The Final Chapter: The first was Kagel's original design that he arrived with on set. This version was used for all the stunt masks and prop dummies. The second was a resculpt by Kagel of the first design with much more detail and heavily refined shapes. This version was used solely for prosthetic applications directly to Ted White's face.

2.) The "stunt mask replica" referenced herein is a direct recast of a (then) surviving, production-used, latex Jason stunt mask. This recast appears to have been produced in secret - perhaps for friends only - in extremely small numbers sometime during the late 80s or early 90s. From those 2nd generation castings, progressively smaller recasts were made and have passed around the hobby for years. The particular stunt mask replica that was graciously volunteered and used for this restoration project is apparently the largest and most crisp version of this replica ever seen publicly, and has even appeared in Dr. David Lady's book, "Dr Lady’s Collector's Guide To Movie & TV Monster Masks".

3.) The Mangler originates from a mold of a surviving, production-made "original design" prop dummy, but is only partially accurate to Kagel's original design because it has been heavily retooled - even the 2nd generation "master mold" pulls directly from Savini possess these changes. The back of the head, lower half of the neck, all teeth, and likely most of the upper torso life cast have all been resculpted. There are also three or four small lines on the face and a gigantic, awful gap in between the dividing line of the two-piece mold that produced them. Other than that, most of the detail present is cast directly from an original film prop.

4.) The stunt mask replica I molded is the same mold generation (IE: same size) and retains the same amount of detail as a "master mold" copy of the Mangler. For this reason, I have taken a quickie press mold of the "good eye" from the Mangler and applied it directly to the stunt mask bust, then added in all the fine details for a very close match to the production-used prop(s).

5.) Because the Mangler is unreliable for the rear skull size and shape, I have used unpublished, never-before-seen images of the film-used stunt masks taken at the time of filming to assure that the head shape and wrinkle detail is as accurate as possible. Only minimal stuffing was required, as the stunt mask replica "remembers" these shapes pretty well. For anything I could not reshape by stretching the latex, clay was applied directly on the resin master using the reliable, original sculpture portions of James Mangrum's Mangler master copy for direct reference.

6.) Other than the extremely rare and old 2nd generation latex stunt mask replicas, there has never been another The Final Chapter replica that has ever retained this much detail from the original stunt mask/dummy sculpture design.

7.) Assuming everything goes well, this design will be molded and enlarged from its current state using Hydrospan to give it a roughly 40% to 45% size increase. This will put the design back to its original, wearable, hockey-mask-friendly production size. From there, I will be making the final mold and producing a small amount of resin replicas to recoup my costs on the project. I will keep the price low - likely anywhere from $225 to $250 per blank casting. I will provide further updates when possible.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy the pics! (For more pics, scroll on down to the first reply):

Ryan, I\'m not sure how many times I can tell you how excited I am for this project. I honestly think you were the perfect choice for this restoration as I am well aware of your love for the character, and your obsessive dedication to accuracy and detail. This will most certainly be another "must-have" for die-hard F13 TFC fans. My offer still stands (if you remember) and you know how to find me if you wish to discuss.

    Great job my friend!

    PS... those teeth are gorgeous!
