damn didn\'t know there was a box set for the old school ones...need to pick it up. I thought the movie was pretty decent for a remake now adays.

    SPOILER

I thought making George Lutz actually trying to kill his family was really cool turn on it, and actually seeing the "Gateway to Hell" as the lady called it in original, the tortured native americans and such. Only thing I really didn\'t like was trying to give the movie a main badguy in a way. Ketchum really wasn\'t need for the plot, and for the "true" story it was only a myth it was him, not any proof it was the same guy that think it was and there were many Ketchums back in that day in that town pertaning to the story.

After the first half hour-45 minutes the original start\'s picking up. Is the ending the same?

It was so-so, good jumps, but other than that.....Ryan Reynolds has suprised me this year, Blade Trinity, now this....he is not bad at all....he pulls off the comedy and the drama very well.

I gotta say, overall I\'m pretty disappointed. I mean, don\'t get me wrong, it was okaaaay.....but not great. They changed way too many things, left too many things out, and the whole Ketchum thing was just absolutely ridiculous. I have about the same feelings about this one as I do the TCM remake. If they would have made just another TCM sequel, it would have rocked balls. Same thing with this movie, except I think they should have just made another original haunted house flick and not attached the Amityville name to it at all. I think for this production company to be filming so many remakes, they need to stop taking so many liberties with the original storylines.

saw it today and i must say it was pretty good . but i do like the original alot better . the thing i hated most in the movie was the thing Renold\'s did with the axe in the boatshed . don\'t wanna say what he did as i don\'t want to make a *spolier* for someone who hasn\'t seen it yet .

    mike,

oh forgot one other thing i was disapointed with , the FRIGGIN house . it looks nothing like the real one and the side of the real house is on the same side as the front door <_< . stairs were on the wrong side on the inside of the house and why was the fireplace in the basement instead of the living room ?
