Quote:I think that if the prices in this hobby are a concern for you, you\'re probably in the wrong hobby. This is meant to be a side thing something to blow your disposable income on. If you feel the prices are to steep for you they probably are, you should stick to neca figures and what not just to get your horror fix in if you must. When I look at piece I say to myself it must be mine and that\'s the end of story. If I don\'t have the extra cash laying around then will wait until I do or I contact the maker directly and work out a payment plan which most of the guys I work with have no problem with doing. Bottom line something is worth what someone will pay for it. If you think this hobby is bad you should check out star wars collectables or older rarer baseball cards.

alot of masks are overpriced in my beliefe but you have to remember, the cost of latex, paints, hair, eyes, ect. ect. also the costs for the clay and molding process and all the time put into it But i must agree with antboy, that is why i trade for most of my masks or buy from death studios wich is the cheapest price for the best quality imo.
but like 700 dollars for a kh/dw mask or a bust from nightmares ect?
im sure its worth it to some people and they are great masks but a little bit ridiculus if you ask me.

Not trying to start a fight here with you Jason8844, but if you want a great peice you have to pay and Conor offers nothing but the best. He is a professional at what he does. His peices are top notch and worth every penny you pay for one. You really need to own a peice from Conor before you can knock the price tag of it. I\'m sure there is a few board members who can vouch for Conor and his work.

alot of time and effort definitely go into these pieces, but some pieces are too steep..., but if someone is willing to pay that then it\'s not too much for them...I\'m on a super-low income and I\'m a college student so most pieces are too expensive for me, but I manage to find a way and save a bit up for the ones I really like. Plus, alot of mask makers will do "collector\'s pieces" for quite a bit of money and then make economical versions for us lowly po\'folks. I don\'t think 250 is too much for a REALLY killer mask or bust, but I definitely try to find the best deals I can...and I know WHO to deal with now from my experiences here. Also for those on a limited budget...these classified sections are a great thing...I\'ve accumulated much of my collection from classifieds and trades and such. Plus, alot of mask makers will work deals with you if you talk with them before making a purchase. It pays to be cordial to your fellow forum mates

I\'ll see if I can break this down.
Let\'s say a mask maker sells 12 masks and makes $1700. Now he has to make them. So 1 bucket of latex (for me) yields 12 masks. That bucket of latex may cost as much as $120 including shipping.
So now the profit is $1580.
The mask maker will work about 10 days to make the 12 masks. Your average \'non professional\' job will pay about $10 and hour. One work week will pay $400, now overtime for weekend will pay $300, that\'s 7 days. The remaining 5 days is another work week paying another $400 for total of $1100.
Making masks is a \'skilled\' trade, for that type of job you get paid more than a non skilled job. Also figure in the cost of boxes, tape, drive time to and from the post office, labeling the 12 boxes with your address and thiers, waiting in line at the post office, etc. Not to mention the fact that the maker offers you something that you cant find anywhere else on this planet, a specialty item. Your average mask maker has little to no social life and not much expendable income, if any. You think stuff is over priced? Think again. Mask makers give up a lot more than you could imagine. Be happy that these guys offer up what they do. Nobody makes masks to get rich
