There you have it, but believe me when I say if anyone had the $$ to by the more exspensive pieces they would and they wouldn\'t be on here complaining about certain makers and there price tags. Sounds like straight up jealousy to me. Bottom line if you don\'t have the extra $$ to pour into this hobby, your in the wrong hobby. These makers bring our horror movie icons to life and that cost $$ to do..

Perfect Mark! Yep, if you know what goes into these masks and pieces then no, it\'s not too expensive at all. I am very willing to pay the high prices, $200, $300 more cause I know what I\'ll be getting in return. Like Paul said, if you can\'t afford to drop the big jack, or don\'t want to, wrong hobby to get into. Cause it\'ll eat ya up, or you will never have the collection you really want.

well everyhting has a mark up some are too much and some arent as far as mask go most peieces are a fair price conor makes damn nice pieces and are well worth it mark sumed it up best after supplies for everything and time then the price is well worth it but u got alot of guys selling lesser quality peices at high prices that are basically a ripoff i mean anyone can paint a mask but they can either look right off the film or like they were created in some dirty basement

I thinkMark said it best as well as anyone else that understands what we mask makers go through to bring you something you can\'t find anywhere else.
As a matter of fact when I started NIGHTOWL it was because there wasn\'t anyone who made some of the things us independant guys make .

When I was a kid I would cut many yards to own a better mask or anything that resembled a character I am looking for.
mask collecting isn\'t for everyone.

I\'ve been thinking about this. Mark definitely knows what he\'s talking about, when I go to have exclusives made the mold alone is a backbreaker in cost and every step of the process is money. I\'ve been at this 15 years and when I thought things were out of my price range I waited for them and bargined and traded or saved up.

That\'s the fun of collecting, if we could all spend a million dollars and have everything we wanted where would the fun be of finally getting that "holy grail".

Some pieces have a lot of time and skill put into them, and the price of some very detailed pieces reflects that fact. People are used to going into a Spencer\'s Gifts and seeing cheap, half-assed masks for $30. Independent mask makers try to bring something to their customers that is more collectible, longer-lasting, and most of the time far more accurate than what you find on store shelves.

Mask companies rush out thin, poorly made masks with hastened paintjobs and minimal hair work nowadays. This is why they can charge $30 to $40 a piece for them and still get a profit.

Most of the prop makers around here are small, one man operations, working out of home or a storage building of some type. Unlike the large companies, they use better materials, spend more time on each individual mask, and (at times) try really hard to match movie specs. They need more than just $30 to $40 per mask because prices like that really just wouldn\'t be worth the effort involved to create the things.
