Yup, they can use your address to sell to advertisers. Just read their privacy policy:
\"Our site\'s surveys require users to give us contact information (like email address) and demographic information (like their age or education level). The customer\'s contact information is used to contact the visitor when necessary. We may display on our web sites information about our users which is not individually identifiable, for example their height, weight or income level. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Demographic and profile data is also collected at our site. We use this data to tailor the visitor\'s experience at our site, showing them content that we think they might be interested in, and displaying the content according to their preferences. This information may be shared with advertisers on both an individual and aggregate basis.\"
However, I believe it is a law now that they have to offer a reliable opt-out service that will let you to remove your email from their database. They have one on their site.
Either way, it is good practice to separate your personal accounts from those you use on sites like these that are potential spam generators. I couldn\'t imagine only having one account nowadays...I\'d get flooded with crap. I\'m glad I have 20 or so accounts
Also, another tip....most of those sites that want a \"valid\" email address are looking purely at format. As in \"emailaddress@email.com\"....usually when you put in something fake like that, you fool their system. However, that doesn\'t help when they need to send a validation email, but on sites like this it should work.
