Prep work is an important key to how the paint job will look. If you have a bunch of rough spots the piece will not look realistic. I also do something most people dont do. When I have a piece all primed and ready for paint. I take polishing sandpaper and polish the piece this gives the piece an ultra realistic painting surface to paint on.
