Virtually anything within a mile radius of the detonation site would have been obliterated. The quick screen shot Lucas/Spielberg made to the lead-lining of the refrigerator was done in jest. They threw it in there to be as silly as someone surviving three waterfalls, driving a jeep off a cliff, or encountering aliens.
