One Piece Mold

Your question calls for more questions rather than answers.What form is the Master copy? (Soft or hard, flexible or non-flexible.. porous, semi-porous)Are you going for a 1-piece mold, or 2-piece, or more? What are your materials, what equipment is availible, what's your budget, what do you want for an end result? How many castings, what type of materials you want in that? What size is it? are there undercuts?Typically, you seal it, cover it in a release agent, and cast molding material onto it that's the opposite of what your starting material is.. (ie- soft molds for hard, inflexible material, or hard molds for soft casting material.) That's a general rule, but is extremely application dependant, and requires decisions and a basic knowledge of what equipment is availible to you. There's tons of videotaped tutorials, and/or photo tutorials over at www.smooth-on.com there's bound to be something useful for you.A one-piece sock mold is often a brushed-on mold, with a shell mold (also called a mother mold) to hold it in shape. The sock mold material is extremely flexible, and it stretches easily.. permitting you to fill up one end, and then roll the mold off of the finished piece.Sometimes you can slit a fully encasing mold, and then use it like a sock mold.
