People all too often confuse courage with stupidity. If these people were prepared(in shape, well equipped, possessed a good knowledge of criminals and the city they live in) then it would be courage. These people are just comic book nerds who walk the streets looking ridiculous. What makes them stupid is the fact that they are totally unprepared for any real ultra violence, which could easily get them(or others) killed.
