For me, I buy masks to display, just like you would any other piece of artwork such as an oil painting or sculpture.By taking care of these items and treating them properly, they can last a LONG time.You also have to realize that most of the artists who created these pieces did so because they have a passion for doing it.By buying, displaying, trading, and sharing, you are supporting these artists and validating their art for them personally.I know the artist and history of every mask in my collection, and gladly share this info with whoever visits my home and see my display. Seeing people who had no idea that something like this even existed, or just plainly took it for granted as something they would see in the party shops every fall, actually show interest and amazement at each individual piece is priceless.
