I don't know why, for the other remakes (F13, Halloween), I've wanted practically exact formats of the old films, with the same exact style killer and no changes to the story. But for this one, I'm totally ready for a change.I know "Englund is Freddy" but to be completely honest, I'm glad to see someone else take on the role! Sure, it would have been fantastic to see Robert back on the big screen as Freddy, and he did great as Freddy in VS at his age, but we're lucky enough to have his replacement be an Academy Award nominee! Ever since the suggestion of Jackie Earl Haley as Freddy, I was excited to see if he'd be chosen, what he'd do with the character.I personally think his performance (from what we see in the trailer) is nothing like Englund's. This is a completely new Freddy, something I don't mind at all.Perhaps it's because I'm not a "loyal" fan to the series. Though Freddy is great in each film, the only ones I consider worth watching is N1 and 2. After 3, I've always thought Freddy needed a darker atmosphere. I think we may have gotten just that.I figure it's because, unlike Jason and Michael who were intended to be just human and nothing more, Freddy IS a monster.I'm pumped for this movie, something I haven't felt for a horror film in a long time.
