King Kong and Dracula needed to be remade as the originals were made over 50 years ago, the art of film making has improved so much since then..... However the original Nightmare still holds up to this day. Does not need to be remade. Just my 2 cents. And really comparing Nightmare to King Kong and Dracula is an unfair comparison. Those 2 are legends in the history of cinema.<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndI agree that the Original Nightmare can stand on its own. It's truly a great horror film. However, I want to see Freddy back on the big screen again and Robert feels he is too old for the part now. So, what other alternative is there but to find a new actor? Robert Englund himself said he would love to see a remake and to see what today's technology could bring to the table. So, if Robert himself wants to see a remake, does that make him unloyal to the character he brought to life? If we link arms with Robert and take a trip down remake street and support a remake of NOES, are we unloyal as well? I disagree... I think those who refuse to allow room for a remake... especially now that Robert supports it... are the ones who are being unloyal. What better way to show your loyalty than to support the Freddy character being brought back to theaters for a new generation of fans? And I think you can list Freddy Krueger along the rankings of Dracula and King Kong. Freddy is ALWAYS on the list of best ALL-TIME movie villians in the history of cinema.
