Prom Night, The Ring, etc, were supposed to be true horror movies that stunk. Leslie Vernon, The Hills Run Red, etc, are modernized twists on the same slasher stories we know and love. This was somehting different to me, and something better. If I want what any of those movies have, I can go watch them, wasn't looking for that in a Halloween themed movie, as the holiday holds so many meanings and memories to me, I felt were really brought to life in this movie.
