Just do the event. If you have double the characters it's not really gonna' matter anyways. Just do what you've said you'd do for charity, and let the chips fall as they may. You might want to warn the event organizers about the situation, but that's about it. If you're seriously worried about double characters, avoid doing the one's you know he's doing, or get the organizers to pick who does what."joining" the two groups is exactly what's gonna' happen, in terms of you're both working for a common goal. As far as the organizers are concerned, that's basically what needs to happen. You aren't really "merging" you're just making sure that both groups can operate without running into each other.I assume you guys have skits you want to do.. get with the organizers and arrange when/where/how to do them. Explain that you understand there's a competing group there this year, and that you want to minimize the confusion by knowing how the organizers want everything to be handled, knowing that the groups won't work together as a single unit.Likely the organizers may decide to limit it to one group next year. If you guys are a no show, you're just letting down people you've made promises/commitments to, and that's not cool. Just remember that if they drop a group next year, it'll be the one that causes the biggest headaches, and/or is least willing to be a team player, and/or is the most uncooperative, or non-communicative, or just biatches the loudest.Play it cool and do your thing.
