But, in the event that you perhaps feel I was "calling Robert a flat-out liar", I'm going to respond. Because I certainly wouldn't ever want anyone to think that's the case.I personally never said Robert didn't "really mean" what he said, and I certainly NEVER called him a liar. I wrote, "I believe Robert when he says he's happy about JEH replacing him, but...even if he wasn't, you'd never hear the truth about it because it just wouldn't be a smart PR move on his part."The key words in that sentence being "believe" and "if". I'm not accusing Robert of lying, and would never do so. Perhaps I should've written, "Even if he wasn't telling the truth (which I definitely don't think is the case!)...". But, I assumed given the picture under my name in this forum, my role on NSA, and my obvious fandom for the character and series, that had to be pretty obvious. For crying out loud, I've worked (briefly) with the guy, respect him immensely, and honor him as both an actor and horror icon. Look at my avatar. It's got to be pretty clear from my expression in that picture that the moment I met him was one of the happiest of my life. So, I'm hoping you weren't directly addressing me and putting words in my mouth.I was merely making the general but very valid point that applies to almost everyone in this town; even if someone felt differently, you wouldn't necessarily hear their honest opinion. That's just how this town works most of the time (and many other towns and business, for that matter). I never said Robert was lying, I never said I didn't believe him. I was only hypothesizing...making a point, stating how it is in most occasions. People in this town are not exactly known for their honesty sometimes. Again, key word: sometimes. And I'm not meaning Robert or trying to imply anything about him. So, I hope no one thinks that was what I was doing. As for Platinum Dunes having no say in the matter...it's Michael Bay. He could tell ANYONE at New Line or just about anywhere else (with perhaps the exception of Spielberg at Dreamworks) what he did and did not want, and most people (if not all of those people) would kowtow to his demand...because he's Michael Bay. To me it reeks of a marketing ploy, much in the same vein as the remakes of Myers' and Voorhees' "origins". And, as I said, it makes a great deal of sense to a degree. I just don't happen to agree with it.Cheers.<!--QuoteEnd
<!--QuoteEEndI was actually responding to Peel's comment, Lito. However, if someone says that Robert endorses JEH to replace him but in reality he secretly is against it all because it'd be negative PR for him to say otherwise, there is only one other inference... that means Robert's not being honest with the fans who have asked his opinion on the matter. The key word in my original posting was "IF you say that Robert doesn't really mean what he's saying.. then calling him a flat out liar doesn't make him look very good either." I was not saying that you were in fact calling him a liar. And by the way... when I say "you"... I mean "you" as in the general population. I'm not targeting you specifically, Lito. Just want that to be clear.
