The knife through the head and the sawing of the neck of the girl in the pool are two of the most gruesome murders ever captured on film, in my opinion. Savini was definitely in top form on this effort. What's fascinating is to watch the behind-the-scenes makeup footage on the Blue Underground DVD. You get to see all the tricks, and there is a lot of extra footage of all the "grue". Quite unsettling and yet satisfying if you're a fan of the effects of the era.
