On the original the broken pieces overlap each other by a quarter inch with the long portion of the blade on the outside of the joint. This is why, on the orinal glove, the index blade is 4 inches from the tip and the other three are 4 1/2" from the tips. On the one he did for me, it was just a simulated break, so still very strong, but the method described would be ideal.
