According to my imdb "Pro Account", both films were released on the exact same day.But, the development of the original <i>A Nightmare on Elm Street</i> goes back MANY years before 1984, five, to be precise. I really don't think that anyone can ever fairly say that Freddy's look was "ripped off" or borrowed from the look of this particular creature in <i>Night of the Comet</i>.I would chock it up to either coincidence or the fact that David Miller was involved in the makeup design for both films. But...that's about it.
