Yeah....He never mentioned it, AT ALL!!!
It had been completely broke from the ax cut to the top strap rivit and it was cracked between the two horizontal breather holes at the top (above where the red chevron used to be). I managed to fix the crack above the chevron to the point that you can't tell it was damaged but the part he had fixed (the complete break from ax cut to strap rivit) can still be seen in the right kind of lighting. Plus the straps have been pulled from the rivits and GLUED to the inside of the mask so my next few steps on this mask are going to be tough.
I think I am going to find new straps and (unfortunatly) epoxy those in place, and then use a spray on adhesive to line the backside of the Hockey Mask with a black felt cloth. That way all the damage is covered up and it will be comfortable to wear too!!!
That is the best thing about a custom mask though..........it doesn't have to be exactly what we see in a movie. It can be fiddled with to get the best look out of what we have to work with.
