I think Rusty actually scratched his masks, not drawing on. Even if he does, it looks great.AWESOME job Rusty, that part 3 is insane, and I love the part 7 as well. You're work just keeps improving. <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" />

Its a good thing you arent trying to sound like a know-it-all....because I believe he is referring to the part 3 Hockey Mask....and yes, the part 3 Hockey Mask contained stickers as tri's, not paint <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" />lookin great too Dawg, Im lovin the 3....great colors

In part 3...the tri's were tape my friend. So that would mean the tri's in part 4 were tape as well...Not every movie sure but in these two films they were..I would say ask Ryan Bean...he is very reliable for info. Thanks pucky!!!!!J.

sorry yo go off topic in your thread Dawg <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"unsure.gif\" />Im not sure exactly where I heard this, but I remember someone said that the tri's were made of some kind of "headlite repait kit" tapeeither way, tape was what is used, and that is all I use now when I make a 3 or 4 Hockey Mask<img src=\"http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v196/puckface/Picture001-3.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" />

Right, i have it from the horses mouth that the tri's on the original p3 were paint, Ken Tarallo confirmed this earlier this year for me.I use both paint and stickers, my p3 pic has stickers on it the P6's and P7 have paint.I can do either to suit the customers wishes.Personally i like the stickers on a p3 and p4 and you can get the tri damage just as well with stickers as you can with paint so i dabble with both. The P6 damaged tri is easier to do with paint and you can match the colour better to the original.i do sand the holes but looking at the pics there is a small amount of paint dust on the back of a few of the holes did'nt notice that, thanks <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Confusedmile:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> Not sure why the P4 was brought up as there are no pics of a P4 but yes i have tried carpet but as i use acrylics rather than car spray paint used on the original it will never have the same effect. This bit was a bit harsh'For heavens sake don't "draw" on the mask for cracks and markings..scratching the mask sometimes works but that can look stupid too...and by no means am i saying that you are doing these things.'Every artist has his/her own style and techniques, i know for a fact that Crash, who in my opinion has made the most realistic P3 replica hockey mask uses pencil and in fact pencil was used to weather up some of the hockey masks for the original films. If 'for heavens sake' don't use pencil and real scratches can look 'stupid too' what would you suggest?I use all sorts of different techniques on all the different styles of hockey masks, some i really scratch up like my P4 'Last Part' some i use pencil some i use both.I really don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it, just what you feel looks best.If i showed you pics of other masks i have done recently and asked you what technique i had used i would be surprised if you could tell me!I have been experimenting for 2 years now and hope it shows.I showed Ryan Bean the pics last night as i get a good honest opinion from Ryan and always have and he thought they were great so i must be doing something right.I always appreciate constructive criticism and welcome it, just a little confused by some of the comments.

just to confirm.I qoute Ken Tarallo'Krylon Cherry red , krylon discontinued this color number. most think it is tape but no.. It was paint. people think that tape was used because of the cheeks coming off but the fact is tape this shiny would only be 33 tape and 33 tape does not take off paint at all (because it is not a permanent tape) so there would be no marks left. the chevrons were scraped / buffed off, you see the different masks used in the film in part4.'

and again'Mask was painted with sandshell base, another color was used but I can't remember the name it was a off white type this was dusted, scratches were added thoughout the movie, the tris were made by masking off the area and spray painted on, Later on the same show touchup was done by masking off areas and spraying the red paint into the cap of the paint and brushing it on, back then the paint had a very high VOC rating so it dried in 30 seconds. That is why the chevrons look like tape when you mask off a line the paint is the same thickness of the masking tape after you pull the tape off you will see a raised edge. remember we do everything quick, films run about $2000.00 a minute we don't have a lot of time to make something look great. we make it only for the lens that is all period.'

Darren has NEVER had any complaints from his customers regarding his paint-ups and his ebay feeback is A1 !! He certainly knows how to paint a Hockey Mask, and his weathering techinques are excellent, the pictures just don't pick it up. I have been in Darren's workshop and seen his work in the flesh, I also own some hockey masks painted up by him and they are superb, among the best I have seen! As Darren says, he will do whatever the customer requests and whatever makes them happy. I have had in depth discussions with Darren on the screen used part 3 and 4 hockey masks and he certainly knows his stuff, he kinda blew me away with how much he actually knew!! A lot of his information comes direct from the horses mouth, Ken Tarallo, and you can't argue with him! Your work is excellent Darren and just keeps getting better! Keep it up good buddy!!!! <img src=\"http://forums.NIGHTOWLpro.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />
