This is what someone said on mm.net forum.Could someone explain what a clay press is.I know its not an original sculpt. Is it more or less a recast of an original 75 kirk? By the way high price but both are nice.As long as everyone pays for limited runs we will see these prices. Not saying its not worth it to some people.....<!--QuoteEnd</div><!--QuoteEEndA clay press is just that, a casting of a mask into which clay is poured to recover basically a sculpture identical the casted mask, which Bry edited and added the ears and all that to. And this is a pretty tricky issue. This certainly is a badass mask, but in no way should he be charging THAT much for it. I would understand somewhere around a grand, but two? It definitely shuts out all of the people who can no where near afford this piece, and makes it in turn even harder for them to obtain it given the inevitable after market value on such a limited run. Situations like this and the reaction of the community are just another reason I made the choice to bring the Leatherface fans the most accurate mask I could for only 200.. And there is way much more work going into leatherface than a kirk or myers. It is just crazy..

not sure if i've seen pics of this mask yet or not but if that's what he prices his at then that's fine . a mask/bust is only worth what you are willing to pay and if that seems too high for you then so be it . i've seen plenty of other pieces alot higher than that one and people buy those so i guess it's just a matter of choice , either you like it enough to pay that or you don't . mike,

gossiping about how high the price is isn't going to change it. sure, I agree that it's a bit high, but what do you expect this thread to do about it? or any of the multiple threads that have been made for that matter...?

Well...this is a thread for discussion...and people are discussing mask prices, just as they would discuss the weather...they can't change that either.

I figured out clay pressing....making a silicone mold of the face of the kirk and then plaster cast over the silicone.then pour or press clay into the silicone/plaster mold and applying the finished clay piece to an armature and sculpt the rest yourself.....Complicated process to say the least
