My neighborhood is Halloween night. The kids start trick or treating when the sun goes down and go until the porch lights go out.

It's a shame that most kids these days will never get to experience the good old days of leaving at dusk and getting home around eleven on Halloween night. Paranoia has increased about a hundredfold in the past thirty years. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"confused.gif\" />

I think we all know what's happening to this holiday, it's really no secret.

Everywhere I have lived trick or treating has ALWAYS been on the 31st. I have heard of places having it on a different day but I don't understand why. Having it a week or two before Halloween? That's crazy!I remember when I was a kid we would start trick or treating at dusk and go until 10. That was great! Trick or treating was meant to be AT DARK!We used to have it from 4-7 in our city. A child and his parents in our city complained to the city council that the hours were too short and that by the time his parents got done working and took him trick or treating, he would only have just an hour to trick or treat before it was over. So, the city council actually listened and ended up extending trick or treating an extra hour in our city. Now we have it from 4-8...an hour longer and at least part of it is at dark. I wish other communities would follow our lead. It would be an improvement. -Chuck

Here in N. Atlanta we have it from 5-8 on Halloween night. It works out well b/c my wife and I sit around and watch a couple of movies and eat junk food while we wait for the trick r treaters to arrive sporadically and when it's over we head out to party w/ friends in our costumes. When I was a kid growing up, it was always when the sun goes down until 11. Ah, those were the days.

I seen people out tonight trick or treating, I guess they were doing it last night too and a few places here banned Halloween as well, it really makes me sick.

Ridiculous to have trick or treat on any other day then Halloween, how retarded is that?? Whats next, have Christmas a week or two early i mean come on.... A few towns around here are starting today trick or treat at freaking 12pm to 6. I mean wow. What the heck is happening, if you have little kids, have the parents go with them, but have it at night. golly gee willikers shame with the stupidity of people today that come up with this nonsense..... <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Rolleyes\" border=\"0\" alt=\"rolleyes.gif\" />
