I worry about a real boycott, considering they've been funding the clean-up. I suspect that they'll need our business to continue. They aren't the only guilty party here.. people have been applying for drilling permits, and getting them without being checked out at all, and further research has determined that some of the companies don't even exist. There's some crazy stuff going on.. The shut-off equipment that they were supposed to have on the BP rig is also missing from other rigs out there. If ANYTHING good is going to come out of this mess, it'll be that everyone learns their lessons, and prevention methods/ proper legislation will be put into place to ensure it doesn't happen again. The damage is done, and further damage is coming.. I'm signed-up to go work the local beach when it starts hitting there.. my parents, their friends, my girlfriend, and just about everyone I know locally is planning to go out there too. I'm not one to focus on punishing an entity that's already being punished... it was BP this time, but it really could have been any of them.
well, massive amounts of tarballs are coming up on all the beaches here now. The wife and I plan on going down tomorrow to see how bad it has gotten. Our governor has stated that they are trying to decide whether or not to close all the state beaches. They have already posted flags telling people not to swim....take care,Tommy
