No one can be Freddy but Robert, period. He is not some character that someone else created long ago that many people have played. He basically made the character what it is with all his mannerisms and personality. It would look stupid to see someone else copying him. The movie makers are just plain idiots, plain and simple. They don't give a crap about what the fans want. And no I won't be going to see it. The only way I will see it is if it is on TV for free someday. I rarely ever go to movies as I find them to be a waste of money mostly. Just like it was stupid not to use Kane in FVJ and make Jason look like some 6'7" ogre with the I.Q. of a rock.

They are bascially taking a character he created and giving it to someone else after 24 years of loyalty. I would love to know who the putz is who made the decision.

Either he could play him forever and hate it, want to quit, or die. And for them to keep going, someone else has to step in. Wes Craven created the character before Robert was even in the picture. It's really not a big deal. I learned from Rob Zombie's Halloween, that no matter what new movie comes out with the title of a series you like, it won't change the ones already done, so don't stress about it.

Wes created it but Robert made it, and shaped it to who Freddy is. Robert said he still would play the character gladly anytime in interviews. To me he is the character, so without him I would not even care if the series continued.

Also Freddy is a lot different than Myers or Jason, as there is a lot more to it than some guy walking around in a mask that does not talk, or is not very animated. I don't think the persona of Freddy/Robert could ever be duplicated.

No, after this it's it. Robert will not return just like we will never see Kane Hodder as Jason again. If Robert plays Freddy in the new movie it wouldn't be a remake, it would just be another ANOES with a new title. B-Bob is a good choice, he has enough pull to get the budget and he's just crazy enough to maybe be scary. I am sure there will be hidden things for fans and new stuff for a new generation. If you want remakes to stop here's how to do it:A. Don't talk about remakes on the forums, that builds hype and is actually an indirect promotion.B. Don't frequent the sites that have the banners and or trailers and or promos for the remakes.C. Don't see the f'n movie! You give them money, they make more...duh.D. Don't buy the magazines, trading cards, comic books or video games that feature the remakes.E. Don't buy the DVDReally, it's not hard... if you support them they make more. If no one watched they would stop.If X-Men bombed we would not have a thousand super hero movies, get it.That being said I like remakes, they're good for business as I always say.

its true, but i like remakes too watching the same 7 movies over and over does get old, so watching it from a new perspective makes it all new again <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"Smile\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /> gives me something new to watch while its still my favorite series
