Not sure if you\'ll go for this, but I think the axe cut needs to be deeper. Now I know this is a (4) sculpture, but I\'m going on the character. I think It needs to look like an axe could hold position in the cut on it\'s own, as it did in (3). Remember I\'m going by character here.

    It\'s really looking great, Mark.

In my opinion, the left (J\'s left) side of the face still needs a loooot of foundation work....specifically, the jowl area - directly next to the grin, and around the jaw bone - needs to be built up a bit more downward. It looks as though it sinks inward a bit too much.

Also, something I just noticed, the eyes are a bit too far apart (move J\'s right eye inward just a bit more) and the right eye is also a bit too high on the face by maybe 6 or 7 millimeters. It may not seem like much, but your sculpture\'s eyes are way too level on both the eyebrow line and the eyes themselves. The right eye should hang down a bit more than the left one..as should the brow. Remember, just about every part of the face starts high on the left side, then slopes downward toward the right side as though J had suffered a giant stroke sometime in his early years.

EDIT: I think you\'re shaving that nose a bit too thin, too...You need to make the ball and \'shaft\' of the nose(?...I guess that\'s what you\'d call it..) a tiny bit wider, while simultaneously taking down the size of J\'s right nostril a LOT.

Ok, I have reached the end of my clay pushing and pulling. From here out I will do a little more refining and then the detail. A couple things I see in the pics that will need a bit of re-tooling before I start the rest. So, all in all, this is the basic form and shape of what will be the end product.
Sooooooo, what are your thoughts at this stage of the sculpture??

I know some of the adjustments and changes may seem minute to some but to others it makes all the difference.....
