A New Friday The 13th Film?

Well looks like Jason will make his return to the big screens this upcoming October Friday the 13th. Just read about it on bloody disgusting. Hopefully this is true and not just a dumb rumor floating around and that it doesn\'t suck. :down:

I\'m glad they chose to go this route instead of doing a Freddy VS Jason 2.

I hope they do the same origin formula for Freddy sometime soon.

How could an origin story work? We\'ve pretty much seen when he started killing, because 2-4 are for the most part back-to-back. I don\'t know if an \'origin\' movie could work for Jason. Is he just going to be a kid the whole time? A 5\' kid that drowns and becomes a 7\'10" slow, lumbering, retard? I\'m just not happy with New Lines push to make Jason this big tree-like zombie w/e the hell he is now. But seriously, I don\'t know what interesting things they could fit in that are worth watching. Knowing that he was a kid and drown at summer camp is enough backstory for me...

I have to agree with golem on one point anyways. We know his origin already. :confused: How could they possibly tell us what they haven\'t already covered in 11 previous films? :blink: Might be worth it though if and only if they bring back Kane!

The only thing different I could see them doing would be to maybe dig deeper in the characters occult history?
It was hinted at in JGTH but the writer and director both said that movie was made so that it would have nothing to do with continuity so...

i wouldn\'t hold your breath and even if they do it will probably be crap, dont get me wrong i\'m a big JV fan, the first 4 films are among my fav horror films of all time but after that they all suck big ones in my opinion, i mean i love the p9 Hockey Mask but i dont think i have ever seen a film with such a bad story line.
What the series needs is a new approach, perhaps almost a remake, to start again and make a good horror/thriller with a serious believable story line and not one that includes jason being able to throw someone a million miles in the sky or punch someone\'s head off (although funny) but you can remortgage your home and bet it all on another badly written money spinning pile of shite that four old men sitting round a table let some over excited bunch of f*@k wits with no better ideas cause all they do is watch buffy all night convince them that its gonna be a \'\'blockbuster!\'\'

I also don\'t see how an origin film would be neccesary. I don\'t give 2 bits about Mom Voorhees and I certainly don\'t want to see no kid.
