The 80's gave us sooooooo many classics such as:

The first 3 Indiana Jones films
    Friday the 13th 1 - 8 (favs were 3,4,6 & 7)
    A Nightmare on Elm Street
    Aliens
    Goonies
    Stand By Me
    Back to the Future
    Rocky 3 and 4
    Breakfast Club
    Near Dark
    The Lost Boys
    The Empire Strikes Back
    E.T.
    The Terminator
    American Werewolf in London
    Monster Squad
    Police Academys
    ETC....

This past decade gave us a whole slew of great releases in my opinion as well.
    Such as:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
    The Harry Potter films
    The Descent
    TCM remake
    Hills have eyes remake
Avatar (was released before Christmas 09)
    The Dark Knight
    Wedding Crashers
    40 Year Old Virgin
    Hostel
    High Tension
    District 9
    The Hangover
    ETC....
