I read the book, interesting story... Anyways, I don't understand how this movie resembles religion in any way? Did angry Christians decide they needed something new to argue about, and decided to put down an athiest writer? This is a FICTIONAL fantasy novel. In no way did this author mean for anyone to believe this as true. What young child is going to read a 368 pg book? If parents don't want there young children seeing this, then they shouldn't take them, and if they are old enough to see movies by them selves, I'm sure they can tell the difference between fake and real. I think the movie is going to be rated PG13, based on it's complicated story and violence.Fantasy's are fake, everyone knows that. They all have strange, unrealistic ideas about them. Why should this one be an exception? I think people are getting the wrong idea that because there is a child as the main character, that his is a child's movie. What proof is there that this guy is trying to convert others to athiesm, or that there is any hint of Christianity being wrong at all? It's FICTION! Stop complaining!

Well, I for one, can't give an opinion on the film or story until I've seen or read it. I can say this, however. I am a devout Christian, and I catch a lot of flack from "fundamentalist" types for my hobbies of Horror films, fantasy, comic books, music and other things. My thoughts are like this; If we as Christans are supposed to be following in the footsteps of Christ, then we have to ask ourselves, How did he and his disciples handle situations like this? Christ did not wage wars against people for their beliefs. He loved everyone. If you know the stories of the Bible, you can clearly see the type of people that Christ surrounded himself with and loved unconditionally. Paul was a man who killed countless men in battle because they believed in GOD. Mary Magdeline was a prostitute. Look at the old testament, Noah was a drunk, David was a murderer. Anyway, If you are a Christian then you should know that GOD is bigger than any movie, song, or book. If you're worried that your, or your family's faith can be swayed by a form of media, then maybe you should take inventory of your own affairs before you attack someone else's beliefs or actions. Jesus Christ once said to a mob about to stone a woman known as a prostitute, let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Noone could. And noone can today either. I, for one, will continue to live my life in the best way that I can, by the example given to me through Christ. I also, for a time, turned my back on GOD and religion because of the hypocrisy and other trespasses done to me by members of a church. I now understand that you can't blame GOD for what man does. As humans we are all sinners, and will continue to make mistakes and fall. The important thing to do is to forgive as Christ forgives, and to spread the LOVE, man.

Well said misfit.I as a Christian, don't try to push my beliefs on others as some do, I do not feel that is Christian in itself, you want to bring others to Him, not push them away. I feel the best way to lead is by example, not arguement. That being said, I feel that Christians receive ridicule from "pushing" their religion on others, and that may be true, but atheists and agnostics do the same thing by ridiculing religion and "pushing" their ideas on others. It goes both ways, just remember that. I'll respect your ideas if you respect mine. I think that is the best way to be in handling these situations.

Also, there will always be "hypocrisy" in Christanity. We are all human, so in essence, we all make mistakes. Just because a person is Christian, they do not claim to be perfect, or at least, should not, and in no way should claim to be better than another person. Each Christian division will claim to have everything right, but none have EVERYTHING right, and never will, which is the reason there are divisions, Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Church of Christ, Pentecostal, and so on. Anyway, I will shut up now, did not mean to rant, I just think we should all be respectful of one another, everything else will take care of itself <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"thumbsup.gif\" />

My opinion: Who cares? Its only a movie. If you are a devout religious person, dont see the movie and ignore its exsistance. As Howard stern once said, if you dont like what i have to say then turn the radio off. Same rule applies here. No one is pulling a clockwork orange here and forcing views. No guns to head. Nothing. A movies intention is first to entertain. Yes throughout time propaganda films have been produced as well as convincing documentaries. But this is a fantasy story, set into a fantasy world. Even though they say it is earth our time or past or future, it still is a fantasy world. I have not seen a warrior polar bear in my neck of the woods. Its only a movie. And in the good ol USA we have freedom of speech and expression. Even if it is a GG allin show or watching spongebob. So yes people have the right to speak out, but focus on YOUR family. and for once just live and let live. Whats the point of life if we just sit around and throw poo at each other? But kids are not stupid ( there are a few here and there) if parents raised their kids , they will know the difference between right and wrong. And if this movie is wrong in their household as a family they will avoid it. And if its right they will pass the popcorn. thats my buck fifty. I know some will disagree. But i will leave you with these words. "The true meaning of life is....not to waste it!" My granddad said that too me and it stuck like glue. So live and let live drink(soda if you are not legal) and be merry. and as Wes craven and Sean Cunningham put into out horror genre back in the 70sIts only a Movie<i>Its only a Movie</i><b>Its only a movie</b>Matt <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" />
