Remake Jason Hockey Mask

I am not able to view the video so I am only going by the pics posted. First reaction... nothing special... but at the same time I will reserve final judgement until I see how the mask actually looks in the film. I'm not saying it will knocks the socks off those who dislike now, but I am saying props like this have a different look on screen so it may end up looking better.Quite often Hockey Mask collectors ask for a replica from a specific scene. In the right scene with some well placed lighting it may look fine. I shall wait and see.

I actually want something different with a classic feel...they didn't do any of that. Very amateur looking..you don't agree larry? Why are you defending it...I think i've figured it out..THEY HIRED YOU TO MAKE IT!!! haha jkI hear you but I like to see good artwork, this is NOT good artwork. The TCM remake mask WAS good artwork. Compared to the original that bob burns just threw together like a piece of shit LOLActually, looking at it a little more, it's not a VS. replica, just looks a little like it in color. For me, I'm not speaking for others here, it's been a LONG time since a true Jason has been on the screen. Especially considering that I am bias to the pre-Hodder era. So far the mask has been different in every movie since part 4. The mask is very important to the film . . . probably much more than it should be, but there's nothing that can be done about that now. When they released photos of the new old Crystal Lake sign, I was VERY impressed and excited. Someone took the time to sit down and recreate it. That to me shows dedication and a real nod to the fans and movie itself. They could've easily given us something like the crappy FvJ camp sign or even the Jason Lives Camp Blood sign. Why not do the same with the hockey mask? I and many, many fans would have been so impressed if that had been the case . . . that someone took it upon themselves to recreate something we haven't seen in years. The movie itself will deviate far enough from the originals anyway.

Personally, I hate the so called "Jason" mask. It's off... very off. I mean, AT LEAST the VS mask was a recast from a recast of the movie masks.... It had the right shape and it was supposed to be completely beat up. This one looks extremely poorly sculpted and seems like a fan mask. I hope to god this is some sort of joke. Honestly, as Darren joked about, that thing looks strictly based on the Rubies foam VS mask.I'm extremely disappointed... I was getting used to the idea of this remake, and actually excited, but the mask is just killing it for me.... It doesn't look menacing at all, it looks like a piece of sh*t. As Crash said, this SHOULD have been an actually hockeymask looking thing, not a stereotyped hockeymask look. It's purely a VS paint job on a poorly done sculpture.I hope this doesn't reflect at all how the movie will turn out.

Point taken Crash...very well said. I just think the overall picture is more than the sum of its parts. I just hope the movie is as nicely made as the TCM remake, which I thought was just fine btw. I want a nice old school looking J A S O N and I hope its bloody and full of boobs and stuff...just like the 80's. The look of the original bubba mask is great....but if you think it's a high quality piece of art then I don't know what to say. I love it and all. It's part of my childhood..but it was just thrown together without much thought. It just happened to get fame because of it's look. I don't think Bob knew he was making a work of art.In it's own nostalgic way it IS art though. No arguement there.I've seen plenty of bad make-ups that I love but I know they're not good. Just look at Dawn of the dead. All savini did for the most part was throw blue make up on people as fast as he could. It's part of the charm of the film but it's not good make-up. Can we agree with that?

As much as "art" as painting a hockey mask is......lol............Bob put a lot of effort and time into making it look as close to human skin as possible......................Larry

I can agree with that. And it does look like a real human skin mask would look.but as far as this remake hockey mask goes..I just would of liked to see better. But the look is there. If the movie plot and cinematography is good, then the mask will be.There's also specific reasons artists use certain colors and all that. Especially when they take lighting into consideration...so I'm sure they know something we don't know.Oh and someone commented on using savini for the make-up. That's just not a reality in hollywood today. There are much much much more superior artists in hollywood today.
