I am a big fan of dvds and noticed that many members here also share the same interest.I however am not a big fan of having to re-buy movies that I already own to upgrade them to the Blu-Ray format.I have a friend who is spending a fortune by upgrading the movies he already owns to Blu-ray.Vhs > Laserdisc > Dvd > Blu-Ray > ???Beta and HD-Dvd were a flop.

This damn technology keeps getting better and better lol. I was wondering how long it would take for something to come out after dvds. But atleast you can play all of your dvds in a blu-ray player and they look a little better.

Well I agree with Martoch - DVD is just fine. I recently got one of those brand new Samsung DVD upscalers and so now all my DVD collection is upscaled to HD. <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" />

Definitely not. I'll do what others said and only update key movies. Ones that would look awesome in HD and with the better surround sound.FreddysNightmare- just remember, upscaled DVDs are not HD, albiet, they do look slightly better. Only Blu-rays are completely HD.

Select titles with me as well. Casablance, Planet of the Apes set, There Will Be Blood come to mind. And of course, all the new movies coming out.

The only thing that bugs me more than re-buying dvds is the 2:35 ratio widescreen cutting my tv in half with those huge black bars. lol
