White Sider gave you great advice. You really shouldn't knock it or take it as negative feedback. You do need to learn anatomy. You should get your forms down first then put the details, fine details, and textures in the sculpt.Honestly from the one picture it looks like you used a pumpkin as an armature and threw some clay on it and gave it part 8 features. You have an eye for the details that are going into the sculpts because it does resemble the features of a part 8 sculpt and they look good, it just seems like the overall shape of the sculpt isn't right, and also tone down some of the features. Like in the forehead they just seem to harsh and hard, be more subtle with some of those details. And when you post your final sculpt or finish piece pictures on a prop/mask forum you are opening the gates for criticism especially if you want to produce and have people purchase the piece from you.

I do like the sculpt and I cant wait to see one painted up! All of your masks have a certain style to them and this one fits in just fine. If I had one nitpick(and it might be the angle of the pic) I'd like to see a little more forhead. The part 8 look is very cartoony anyway. Good job man, and that is being honest.

The head seems too small. That, or his facial features are too big...

Though I agree that he does in fact need to learn anatomy, the part 8 sculpt it's self really doesn't have much anatomy at all, as far as it's structure goes.

But thanks <img src=\"style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":whistling:\" border=\"0\" alt=\"whistling.gif\" /><!--QuoteEnd
<!--QuoteEEndI don't think "perfect" should ever be used to describe a persons own art work. Art is the pursuit of perfection, and finally settling for a little less after you have poured your heart and soul into it. If you put your heart and soul into something, you would see the beauty of it being created and not just the thrill of it being finished. Until you learn a little patience, it will never be close to perfect.

I agree that you have a style of your own, much like other sculptors out there. I personally think the sculpt is fine and have seen much worse Part 8 sculpts get more praise. My only quibble is the nose-- it just look like you formed it but never sculpted, smoothed and finished it. The wrinkles under the eye also looks that way, however it's hard to tell in the picture. Since it's hard to tell, I was going to also say the chin needs more features-- like a protrusion, but it may have that already. It's just hard to tell. All in all, it's not bad at all and the real Part 8 (screen used) sculpt/face was nothing to brag about to begin with.I disagree on Part 8 Jason not having anatomical features-- he does. The distance between eyes, length of nose, distance between nose and mouth and so on takes an understanding in anatomy to get right.

ok....Thanks for the critisizims. thats why I only put one dark photo up so that you wouldn't be able to see enough details to critisize it. I guess that failed miserably, lol. I obviously didnt want it to be 100% accurate considering you only really get to see his face well in a few shots. I took details from every part 8 mask that I have ever seen and this is what I was happy with. I still dont understand what you guys mean when you say I need to study anatomy ? I like the way the gates of hell part 8 has a smooth skin texture, so I am going with that. it is figuratively and literally impossible to get anything 100% accurate.

I am no sculptor, but I like the look of that sculpt a lot personally. I never cared much for the part 8 look under the mask, but I love the rest of the look from the movie, and the hoc is one of my favorites. That being said, I do like this and am looking forward to see a copy of it painted.

Reading about anatomy teaches you how to structure your piece correctly. Position, distance, length, shape, etc. of the eyes, ears, mouth, and just the overall shape of the head.

Not trying to knock you or anything, man, but your sculpt looks like a muppet to me. The face is a bit too round and the mouth is too wide.
