Personally, I gave up on hobby/trend magazines awhile ago. It's all on the internet, or if it isn't NOW.. it will be. In fact there's dare I say, too much more info on the web.They need more exclusives (so there's not info from the web), and I think they're trying to focus on the obscure independent and Japanese stuff just because it's stuff you aren't likely to plug into your browser, and therefore haven't already scooped them. The magazine's used the movie industry to survive. It relies on it heavily, and the movie industry simply isn't "there" anymore. The internet has opened doors for the movie industry to take advantage of, with stuff like themed community sites, Myspace advertising, Banner ads, etc. They can have their own websites and stuff now... they don't need to create media hype, they need to create things for the people to get hyped about because they have become their own media outlets now. These days the larger movie companies feed the web media in-order to draw attention to their product. In the old days the sets were only open to a select few magazines/reporters.. pictures didn't "leak" onto the internet, all the fans didn't congregate where media folks could literally wander into a forum and "spill the beans" themselves or get their product talked about whenever they want to. Both during pre-production "check it out, we're on script #8" and a generic local casting call making the rounds. It used to be that they relied on magazines for that kind of exposure, and for us, if you wanted real info, you scoured the magazines for it... Now you simply type in the title of what you want, and blam.. there you go.. spoilers and everything.Movie companies now have own their own outlets, or utilize availible web-based ones without hassle or competition from other titles.As a result, the "exclusives" are from the indies which makes them more like "exclusive-because-no-one-else-returned-their-calls". If the magazines like Fango are going to survive, they're going to need to adapt, and offer us what the internet doesn't. Whether it's witty magazine commentary on sequel series as seen in overview, or simply tie-ins to get people to feel more involved with their favorite franchises. They need to process the information into new material rather than just regurgitate what the internet says.I dunno.. but that's why I don't run a magazine.

Waste of time, back in the 80's we needed Fangoria and Fangoria was at it's best and covered predominately indi films. Now it's the same crap, same stories we find online and they generally cover mainstream crap.Waste of time.

I still buy Fango every now and then too..... No, it's not like it used to be...but what is? Everything changes....I agree with what Deadguy71 said about Fango having to adapt.Bottomline is that the whole Magazine industry is crumbling. C-R-U-M-B-L-I-N-G.No one buys magazines anymore, so Fango has to subsidize the cost of magazine production with the sale of advertisements. The magazine doesn't go up anymore in price (remember when Fango used to be only a couple bucks?) and everyone is happy.The only drawback is having to leaf through ads.Are you currently upset with the price of Fango? If so, then just convince 10,000 more people to buy the mag and it will go down in price. It's all about supply and demand. The cost to produce is fairly fixed in the magazine industry, however the demand is quite elastic.The real issue here? No one reads anymore. They'd much more prefer a movie.Ugh.

I used to get Fangoria regularly from the mid 80's to the early 90's. I don't recall exactly why I stopped getting it but, I have seen it at stores in recent years around town and have thumbed through it and I can't put my finger on it but, it's just not the same. Fango was one of the only ways I had <i>(and I think most of us had)</i> to keep up to date on the world of horror. With the internet....magazines and for that matter newspapers and other publications are fast becoming obsolete. By the time they hit the stands you already know 99.9% of the story and have already seen all the picutres.It's just the way it is now.
